Homeland Deals & Coupon Match-Up 11/28/08 thru 12/2/08

Here are just a few things I see for this weeks ad.  Homeland's ads usually run from Wednesday through Tuesday but this one is a little different due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Airborne - $4.99 - Use $2.00 off coupon from 11/23 insert = $2.99 a box

New York Texas Toast - $2.88 - Use $.50 off coupon ($1.00 off) = $1.88 a box

Spaghettios - $1.00ea - Use $.40 off 2 coupon ($.80 off) = $.60 a can

**You must have a Homeland One Card to get your coupons doubled.  Also, some of the sales are only good with the Homeland One Card.  Homeland always has lots of unadvertised items on sale so it is a good idea to have all of your coupons with you whenever you go.  Have a great night!!

So here it goes.  This is my best money-saving holiday tip....BE CREATIVE!!  Take some time and make some home made gifts and they will be that much more special for the person you are creating them for.  If you feel like you lack creativity or have no creative talent what-so-ever then use the internet for some valuable resources.  Splitcoaststampers.com is one of my favorite resources and they have tons of tutorials with step by step instructions!  Here are a couple of my creations I am working on for Christmas gifts.  Sorry for the not so great pics.  I am out of town and all I have is my cell phone!

**Edited to add:  I forgot to mention to check your local thrift store for items that you can make over.  I found the votive holders at mine at the bargain price of 40 for $3.00.  The letters are iron-ons (found at your local craft store) and ribbon can be found at Wal-Mart or local craft stores also.  So you can create a votive holder for under a dollar!

 

The first one is a set of 5 Monogrammed Thank You cards and the second one is a Monogrammed votive holder.

Sweet and Sassy!

 This is what showed up at our house yesterday afternoon!  The girls had no idea.  They just thought we were having a few friends over to play!  I was afraid it wasn't going to happen at all though.  The girls and I both woke up yesterday feeling a little under the weather but since it was already paid for we went anyway!  Today we are all feeling yucky but there is no school and we are all drugged!  We did have an awesome time though.  The limo came and picked us up and then took us to Sweet and Sassy.  The girls all got to dress up and have their hair, nails and make-up done.  Then they walked the runway and danced and had their pictures taken.

I guess the whole thing was kind of a surprise/early birthday present for DG.  Last year when we had her party planned was when the big ice storm hit.  So....nobody came!  I was so sad for her but she didn't seem to care too much!  But she had a lot of fun last night.  They were all so cute!!

Before we went I let the girls pick out some cupcakes they would like for a treat and this is what they chose.  (I thought they would pick out something princess like...nope!)  A great big ol' turkey cupcake cake.  Oh well!  I guess Thanksgiving is tomorrow so I guess it is okay.  Everyone enjoyed them and didn't seem to care that it was a turkey!

Here is a picture of the girls all dressed up in their dresses.  They quality is not super great but the room was dark pink and there were lots of mirrors and lights so everyone has red eye.  You get the idea though.

Homeland Deals & Coupon Match-Up 11/19/08 thru 11/25/08

I know I promised last night but I crashed about 9PM.  I think my daughter has passed on strep to me or at least a mutation of it.  Anyways, here is what I have found at Homeland.  I don't know from what inserts these coupons are from but I will keep better track of them in the future.  Start saving your coupons now!!  Homeland doubles all coupons up to a dollar by the way but only the first one of same coupons.  Ex:  If you have 2 - $1 off coupons for Bounty paper towels they will only double the first one.  You can do separate transactions though which is what we did Saturday night!

Pantry Pics

This post is for you Krysta!!  Krysta was talking about her post here about her pantry being a little OCD.  I was just letting her know she is not alone!  Hmmmm....now if I could just get the rest of my house to look this neat.         

Favorite Things

I just added a Favorite Things area to my blog.  One of them is Money Saving Mom.  She has excellent posts on how to save money and just about anything you can imagine.  It is one of my favorite blogs to read.

The other is for ING Direct.  It is an online savings/checking that I use for special purposes.  For example, for the last few months I have been automatically depositing $20 from my local checking account every time I get paid (I work part-time).  So every month $40 is socked away for Christmas purchases.  Plus it earns a higher interest rate than my local savings!  So now that Christmas is near I have some extra money to go shopping for friends and family.  It was super easy to set up and I really don't notice the money being gone from my local account.  The best thing is there are no minimum deposits or anything like that.  You can check it out if you are interested.  If you start putting away just a little every month until next Christmas you won't break the budget!

Homeland Shopping Trip

BG and I went to Homeland last night to do some grocery shopping.  We took the kiddos with us so we wound up with a couple of extra items but that was it.  Here is what we bought. And we spent a total of $64.29 including tax.  With the Homeland card, sales and coupons we saved $85.49 off of our bill!  I promise I will do the coupon match up after dinner tonight and post it for you.  BG and I are going to The Melting Pot for dinner in celebration of our 9th anniversary.  

And in honor of my neighbor Krysta I will post a pic of my pantry to let her know she is not alone!!

Crest Deals!

I went to Crest tonight to pick up some milk and noticed a couple of good deals.  They have Hamburger Helper and Knorr Sides on sale 2/$1.  If you have coupons from the last couple of weeks the Hamburger Helper winds up being $.25 a box and the Knorr Sides $.20 a pouch.

Example:  Buy 3 boxes of Hamburger Helper for $1.50.  Use the $.75 off of 3 coupon making them $.25 a box.  Buy 2 pouches of Knorr Sides for $1.00 and use the $.60 off of 2 coupon making them $.20 a pouch.

Hopefully they will still have some tomorrow since I did not have my coupons with me when I went to pick up the milk!

Oh!  And here is my coupon binder.  I still have a ton of coupons to get filed.  That is why you should stay on top of it every week and not be a slacker...like me!  I am still working on the Homeland deals.  I will try to post in the morning on what I have found.

Cutting Coupons!

I have neglected cutting out coupons for the last week because of the craft show but now I am back at it.  I have a lot to go still but hopefully I will get them all cut out and organized by tomorrow.  I have a huge binder full of coupons and they are all alphabetized.  I know it sounds crazy!  I will take a picture of it tomorrow just so you can see it.

If you don't get the Sunday paper with the coupons you should really start.  You should also check out Coupons.com for online printable coupons.   Just recently I found some Kraft Bagelfuls coupons online (printable) for $1.00 off 1 box.  Homeland had them on sale for 2/$4 and they double coupons.  So I wound up doing several transactions and getting 6 boxes of Bagelfuls for free!

Once the online ad comes out tomorrow night for Homeland I will try to match up the sales with recent coupons.  I will post them here late tomorrow or Wednesday morning so check back soon!
