I have always disliked New Year's Resolutions, mainly because I can never stick to them. So this year I have set 10 goals for myself that I would like to accomplish before 2009 is over. Hopefully by posting on my blog about them I will be held a little more accountable than if I just mentioned them to my family. Here is what I want to accomplish before the year is over:
1. Run A 5K Race- I have always enjoyed running but since getting married and having kids I always seem to busy for exercise. This year I am making it a priority to exercise and to accomplish that I thought I would start training for a 5K. There is lots of information on-line on how to start training and get ready for a 5k in "X" amount of weeks. So stay tuned as I will be posting my progress here on my blog.
2. Eat When I Am Hungry - It seems like common sense doesn't it? But I am so bad about eating when I am bored or angry or whatever. God made our bodies to tell us when we are hungry so my goal is to learn to listen to that and question why I am eating and if I am really hungry or not. I guess part two of this goal would be to make better choices when I do eat. I am on day two and it is not so bad. I think I had forgotten what it was like to fell my tummy growl. Of course I want to lose weight but I need to take baby steps!
3. Make My Home Clutter Free - I am so tired of having so much stuff in my house. So room by room I am on a systematic purge of things that I do no need or use anymore. On that note, check my storefront on the left sidebar for things I will be getting rid of. Maybe the things I am getting rid of can make a new home at your house!
4. Recycle And Reuse More- I already recycle alittle (at least I did until the recycle bin disappeared, but I am working on that). Now I am going to try to recycle more like rinsing cans out and throwing junk mail in the recycle bin too. Also, old t-shirts that are too yucky to give away I am going to cut up and make dish rags or car washing rags etc. Stop buying bottled water, the list goes on and on so I won't bore you with all that. I think you can get the picture.
5. Complete 3 Scrapbook Pages Per Month - I have so many pictures laying around that need to be put in albums or in the scrapbook. If I just did one crop per month at my local scrapbook store I think this goal will be fairly easy to accomplish.
6. Get My Business Going - I do custom embroidery, sewing and paper crafts and although I have already taken steps to get the business off the ground (see this post here) I would like to have an on-line source for those that do not live close to me. I will be working to do this soon!
7. Learn A New Skill - I would like to learn about photography. I think learning to take great pictures would not only be great for the family scrapbooks it would also be good for taking pictures for my business. If I see something on-line and the picture is crummy I am a lot less likely to buy it.
8. Teach My Children Good Money Habits - I am going to take the girls to Midfirst and open them both an account. Midfirst has an iSave Kids Club that we will be checking into very soon. I want them to know how much it costs to buy the things they want and not expect mommy and daddy to buy those things all of the time. I will let you know more about the kids club after we go visit the bank.
9. Post Regularly - I am going to try to post at a minimum of 3 times per week. This may not happen during the holidays! I want at least one of those posts every week to be about deals and steals I find at Homeland. I love using coupons and encourage everyone to use them too. So I will be sharing all my finds weekly here on my blog for you to enjoy!
10. Complete Home Improvement Projects - I have started many projects that need to be finished. This is the year that I am going to do that. I will not start another project until all other projects are finished. This will be torture for me as I get bored easily with projects and tend to move on to something else. My husband will truly appreciate this goal!
Those are my goals for 2009. If by chance I complete any of these way early I will likely add a few more to the list. Did anyone else set any goals or make any resolutions for 2009? I would love to hear about them. Have a great evening!
Jennifer
