Box Day

If you are a homeschooler and use the Sonlight curriculum then you know what the term  "box day" means.  It is the day all of your materials arrive!

This box completed the rest of the items we needed to start the school year.  So that is what I have been working on all week.  I got a lot of books off of Paperback Swap and then ordered the rest from Sonlight.  I had to go through the list and then organize everything and put it away on the shelves.  Thankfully we are all ready to start!

Now that I am done I can get back to my regular blogging!

I'll Be Back Tomorrow

I apologize for being absent from blogging over the last week.  I will get back to it tomorrow.  I have been busy with lots of different stuff that I will share tomorrow but it will have to wait until then.  Later!

The Grass is Always Greener....

or maybe its the leaves, for this guy at least!  We spent the day at the OKC Zoo.

It was a pretty cool day temperature wise so all of the animals were out and about.  This giraffe was apparently unhappy with the selection off greenery on his side of the fence so he decided to check out the neighbors.

All in all we had a good day.  The kiddos were worn out when we got home (and me too).  I was hoping to work on tiling the tub walls in the bathroom but I was worn out...so I didn't!

 

 

New Patterns!

I found some new patterns online a few weeks back and decided the other day to order them.  They came in today and I can't wait to try them out.  When I get a dress or something made I will post pictures of it but for now I will just show you pictures of the patterns.

Thrift Shopping Thursday

Over the last few days I have been getting rid of excess stuff and trying to do some decorating of my house.  Home decorating is something I am just not very good at so I am taking it one little area at a time.  Right now I have been concentrating on my mantle.  I have rearranged it several times and think I finally have it the way I want it.

Anyways, I went to the Goodwill store the other day to see if I could find that last piece to put the finishing touch on the mantle...a clock.  I really didn't think I would find anything let alone this.

 

The top part of the clock is actually a door and inside you can hang keys or whatever.  Then there is a little drawer on the bottom half that you can store more treasures in.  I only paid $4.50 for it and when I started cleaning it up I looked on the bottom and realized it was from the Bombay Company.  I love thrift shopping!!

Forever Organizing

Once again I have spent the majority of the weekend cleaning, organizing and purging items from my craft room that I no longer have a need for.  In some ways it feels really good but in others it disturbs me.  I don't even know how much I spent on all this stuff over the last 10 years.  But I do know that it is not worth keeping and having to find space for it if I am not going to use it!!  So, I will be spending most of the evening taking pictures of my items to sell and listing them on Etsy.  Hopefully I will be able to get rid of the majority of the items.  If not I guess somebody at Goodwill will have an awesome find!  So if you are a crafty person and interested take a look!  Have a great night!

No Thrift Shopping Thursday - Oral Surgery extremely expensive.
Broken lawn mower - $750 to fix...not gonna happen.
Thinking about buying Push Reel Mower - still have research to do.
Not happy with TypePad right now.

 

More Tile!!

I tiled my little closet today.  I did it all by myself!!  It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.  I think I will still let my dad do the grouting though....baby steps!

My oldest had her 6 teeth removed yesterday.  She did really well but after the surgery was super groggy and out of it for most of the day.  Today she is in a little more pain than she was yesterday.  I guess once all of the anesthetic made it out of her system it started to hurt more.  Over all she is doing quite well even though she sounds a little funny when she talks.  Like most things it will take some getting used to! 

Big Day Tomorrow!!

Tomorrow is a huge day!  My oldest is having oral surgery and they are taking out six teeth.  Most of them have not even broken through the gums yet.  Her mouth is just so tiny that she does not have enough room for all of her teeth.  It makes me very nervous but hopefully everything will go well.

On another note, we just returned from spending a few days in Tulsa with my parents.  We took the girls to see Ice Age 3:  Dawn of the Dinosaurs and they loved it.  The 3D effects were awesome!  Then that night we went to see the play Oklahoma.  The girls got pretty restless but all of the adults enjoyed it!

Saturday morning my youngest lost one of her upper front teeth which she was extremely proud of.  Here she at the park by the river sporting her new look.  They had a small splash park that all the kids could play in while waiting for the fireworks to start.  Unfortunately once they did start, they ended abruptly.  It looked like there was a small explosion on the ground followed by a bunch of fireworks going off.  We left and went home and the news confirmed just that.  Luckily no one was injured but the fire department shut them down so the show was super short! 
We had a full weekend and a good time with my parents.  My mom is coming tomorrow to stay with little bit so I can take my oldest to the oral surgeon.  That's all for now!

Thrift Shopping Thursday

Here is what I found this last week at Goodwill.  I had been looking for a teapot for awhile and I finally ran across one that I liked.

I spent a total of $12 and some change.  It is more than what I would usually spend but I found a neat  pot, a candle, a shirt and some brand new princess bath flakes for the girls.  They were unopened and cost less than $1.  I love thrift shopping!!
