A Little Bit Of Sewing

I went to my local thrift store today and found several items that were too cute......only the were in woman's sizes (not mine).  I started looking at them and thought I could turn them into something for my daughters.  Take a look!

The top one I did absolutely nothing to.  It is from Limited Too and the perfect size for one of my girly girls.  The one on the right was a woman's skirt (extra-small I think) and I rolled the top down and added elastic.  The skirt on the bottom was a woman's size 5.  I cut the waistband off and rolled the top of the skirt down to make a new casing for the elastic.  Now it is about a size 8 in little girls.  The skirt on the left believe it or not used to be a woman's dress.  I just cut off the top part added the pink waistband and some elastic and Voila!  A brand new skirt for my little one.  From start to finish the three skirts took about an hour and a half to complete and cost me around $10.  I have two happy little girls and I didn't break the bank!

New Patterns!

I found some new patterns online a few weeks back and decided the other day to order them.  They came in today and I can't wait to try them out.  When I get a dress or something made I will post pictures of it but for now I will just show you pictures of the patterns.

Fourth of July Dresses

I finished the dresses for the girls.  I like how they turned out and they were super easy to make.  Here is the finished product.

There you have it.  I think they will be able to wear them more than just on the 4th of July.  I am in a sewing mood now!  Later.

Fourth of July Sneak Peak and a Long Day

It has been a super long and exhausting day.  We started off with an 8:30am ortho appointment.  Then we went over to a friends house to swim, have lunch and play for awhile.  Then at 3:00pm it was back across town for our consult with the oral surgeon.  My oldest has to have 6 teeth removed. Ugh!!!  After that it was back home to clean up and get dinner ready.  But I still had enough energy to start on the girls' dresses for the July 4th festivities.  Here is a sneak peak.  If I finish them tomorrow I will post a picture of the finished product.

I love my embroidery machine!  I purchased this design from Designs by Juju.  Her designs are awesome.  They always stitch out beautifully and the customer service is wonderful!  So if you do embroidery at all then check out Julie's designs.

Headed To Zoofari

On Friday we will be going to Zoofari.  It is an event that happens every year and each year it benefits something different at the zoo.  Since I am in such a sewing mood I decided to make the girls dresses to wear to the event.  They are a little "wild" but I like how they have turned out so far.  I still need to make the button holes that the straps feed through and I am also thinking about making a little apron for the dress with embroidery on the front.  Here is a picture of the dress so far:


The straps will go through the button holes and tie in a knot.  The girls requested that the apron be detachable so that will be added later.  That's it for now!

Easter Dresses

So what does one do when they wake up at 4:30am and can't go back to sleep?  Cut out and sew some Easter dresses of course!  Oh wait, that's just me.  I had bought the girls some Easter dresses and they did not like they way the felt on their skin so when I woke up so early and couldn't go back to sleep I decided to make them some.  Here is how they turned out:
